Why volunteer

It is good for your health and emotional well being. You will meet new people and build your community. You will gain knowledge and understanding of other ways of life. Advance your career by building skills and connections. Do good in the world and help make a difference. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Volunteering opportunities

The Gap is always interested in you, your skills and your desire to volunteer at our centre; opportunities exist our administration and program areas; everybody has skills, talents and experiences that could benefit their community and volunteering is a great way to contribute to yours. Get in contact with us and have a yarn about how you would like to volunteer with us.  It could be a one off project, it could be a series of workshops or maybe just come and hangout with young people and learn more about the lives of young people in your community. If you're interested in volunteering with us, below are the the legislative and on-boarding requirements.

Legislative requirements

  • The Care and Protection of Children Act 2007 (NT) requires you obtain an Ochre Card for child-related employment of if you're volunteering. If you have not already obtained one, you can apply  here.
  • National Police Check. If you have not already applied for one, or you believe your current NPC is out of date, you can apply here.

On-boarding requirements

  • You'll be required to complete a Volunteer details Form.
  • Photo Identification - (valid Driving licence or Passport)
  • A review and signing of our code of conduct
  • A review and signing of our  Confidentiality Agreement and Acceptance Letter.
